If you are in charge then it is your responsibility to do the right things, while if are following the orders to your boss then you have to do the things right.
Doing things right= being efficient
Doing the right things = being effective
I believe that doing the right things" or effective is choosing the right goals ( things) from a set if alternative and reaching them. Efficiency on the other hand, assumers the goals ( things) as given.
"Doing the right things means making the right choice, choosing the right path, and displaying high ethics and moral rectitude. It therefore, related to the" what" aspect of action.
