President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday signed the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Card Registration Act at the Ceremonial Hall in Malacañan Palace on October 10, 2022.

Under the measure, every public telecommunication entity or direct seller shall be required to demand end users of SIM cards to present a valid identification document to validate their identities.

These telecommunications entities shall also be required to maintain a SIM Card Register of their subscribers, containing information required under this law.

In his message, President Marcos Jr. commended the legislators from the House and from the Senate for coming up with the measure which he described as timely and necessary to curb the spread of spam text messages and scams.

The President also looks forwards to the enactment of more measures that will help bring forth the security, progress, and prosperity to the Filipino people.

The Ministry of Public Health warns against consuming fresh and frozen Indian shrimp, as it has been proven that some imported quantities are microbially contaminated, according to the results of analysis in the food laboratories of the Ministry.​

Qatar Museums has announced an open call for the third edition of the Sheikh Saoud Al Thani Project and Single Image Awards. The open call forms part of Tasweer, an annual photography festival celebrating photographers from the Western Asia and the North Africa (WANA) region.

The award, dedicated to Sheikh Saoud Al Thani (1966-2014) — one of Qatar’s greatest collectors who largely shaped the Museum of Islamic Art’s extraordinary collection invites photographers from across the WANA region to submit their entries before November 1.

The Sheikh Saoud Project Award is an annual grant award for photographers residing in WANA, supporting proposals for the development or completion of a photographic project. The jury-selected awardees will each receive a grant award of QR30,000 to support their in-development or new photographic project.

ICYMI. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani unveiled the new national emblem of the State of Qatar at the National Museum of Qatar today, September 15, 2022.

The new emblem features the historical Qatari symbols - the founder's sword, palm trees, sea and the traditional boat - all in the maroon colour placed against a white backdrop.

The Director of the Government Communications Office, Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, affirmed that clarity in the message and visual identity are key to effective communication. He stated that "One of our primary objectives is to organise communication operations for various government agencies, but this cannot be accomplished without a truly effective communication system."
