Doha, May 14, 2024: In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, represented by its 9 departments, the "Ras Laffan Community Outreach Program (COP)" initiated a diverse array of cultural and awareness events as part of the "Bedar" initiative for community engagement with workers. Over 900 workers representing 11 local companies, operating in the northern regions of Qatar participated in the event, which was held at the Barwa Workers Recreation Complex in Al Khor. Officers from the Human Rights, Public Relations, Civil Defense, Criminal Investigation, Drug Enforcement, Community Police, Traffic, Al Fazaa and North Security Departments under the Ministry of Interior presented a security awareness quiz during the program.
On this occasion, Sheikha Al Anoud Al Thani, Head of the Media Studies Section at the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior, emphasized the importance of these events, which align with the ministry's strategic directions aimed at enhancing proper communication between workers and society and raising awareness among workers about security concepts, public safety and occupational safety at work sites, to reduce the risk of life-threatening injuries.
Sheikha Dana Al Thani, Senior officer of the Ras Laffan Community Outreach Program, commended the program's continuous support for cultural and community initiatives for all segments of society, including workers in local companies. She praised the efforts made to engage the labor community in implementing the program's message and various initiatives, notably the "Bedar" initiative, which aims to make workers partners in success in all local and international occasions.
On his part, Mohammed Al-Mashiri, Ras Laffan Community Outreach Program Official, stated that the cultural and awareness events organized by the Program reflect Ras Laffan's strong commitment to social responsibility. He stated that the activities held in this event constituted an integrated program of cultural challenges, awareness workshops, and various entertainment segments that were well-received and appreciated by all participants.
It is worth mentioning that these events took place under the umbrella of the "Bedar" event. They included recreational activities and awareness workshops to promote mental health awareness, physical fitness, safety, and security among workers. Additionally, various cultural competitions were held among companies in the northern regions. The event also included the honoring of awareness ambassadors, representatives of companies who have made continuous efforts to disseminate awareness guidelines in their companies.
"Bedar" is one of the initiatives of the Ras Laffan Community Outreach Program, aimed at engaging with workers in the northern regions. Its first edition was launched in 2019 in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Public Relations Department, and in collaboration with several entities including the Ministry of Municipality, Barwa Real Estate Group, and Averroes – Business Advisory & Services.
The “Bedar” initiative seeks to raise awareness among workers about important guidelines in the fields of security and safety, enhance their community values and principles, introduce them to Qatari customs, traditions, and culture as integral parts of the local community, equip them with skills to handle emergencies and accidents, and develop their sense of security to protect their lives and properties and guard against all forms of crimes.
The “Bedar” initiative also aims to enhance their awareness of areas related to health culture and personal care and involve them in the community's development and the preservation of their properties through training programs and workshops to enhance their awareness and security sense. The initiative serves as a link between the relevant departments of the Ministry of Interior responsible for awareness and education and the workers in the companies. Trainers are developed, equipped, and trained to become training and awareness ambassadors in their companies and residential complexes
