PSME – Qatar Holds Inaugural General Membership Meeting and Technical Seminar


Doha, Qatar - In a show of unity and camaraderie, the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) – Qatar brought together a diverse group of mechanical engineers, spanning various generations and backgrounds, for its inaugural General Membership Meeting (GMM) and Technical Seminar. The event, held at Dusit Westbay on April 26, served as a reunion for early members while also welcoming new faces into the fold.


Dr. Arlan Beltran, PSME's Deputy VP for Foreign Affairs, likened the gathering to a reunion, with attendees thrilled to reconnect with past presidents and pioneer members. Divided into two segments, the event featured Technical Presentations and a Plenary Session, all under the theme "Unified Mechanical Engineers Key Toward Prosperous Industrial Revolution 5.0".

PSME-Q Chapter President, Andy Dipasupil, opened proceedings with a warm Welcome Address, acknowledging the chapter's active membership and emphasizing the importance of collaboration to achieve shared objectives. He reaffirmed the chapter's commitment to advancing members' professional and technical skills through upcoming seminars and programs.


Keynote speaker PSME National President, Engr. Jeremy T. Aguinea, outlined efforts to support local manufacturing in the Philippines, aligning with his advocacy for Filipino expertise and products. Engr. Teofilo Tongson Jr., Chairman of PPO-Q, urged members to engage with industry experts and prioritize unity within the organization.

The event also received messages of congratulations from Consul General Hon. Cassandra Sawadjaan and H.E. Ambassador Lillibeth V. Pono. Ms. Cherry Cureg, MWO’s Head for Assistance to Nationals, commended Filipino Mechanical Engineers for their excellence, inspiring future generations.


Technical presentations covered topics such as the Hybrid Fire Extinguishing System and advancements in Artificial Intelligence in Mechanical Engineering. Attendees had the opportunity to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) units for their participation.

Plaques of Recognition were awarded to newly conferred ASEAN Engineers and successful PME examinees. The day concluded with Engr. Cris Billones delivering closing remarks, expressing gratitude for the successful event.


Looking ahead, PSME-Q outlined plans for future activities, aiming to capitalize on the enthusiasm and unity displayed during the GMM. With a shared vision and robust programs in place, PSME-Q is poised for continued success and growth.
